VARHAD is working towards the networking and advocacy of issues related to prisoners and their families. Regular interaction is kept with other groups, NGOs, and individuals working on the issues. We are in regular contact with PRAYAS a project of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. The project is working with persons and their families vulnerable to crime and / or prostitution. We also share and interact with Sudhar based in Bhopal working in prison. The workers also interact with various government department authorities and individuals to sensitize them on the issue. This year we have planned to raise the issue of children of prisoners at the policy level. Appropriate strategy will be followed for the cause.

We also have frequent interaction with institutions of the academic field. students from various social work colleges visit VARHAD as a field agency. Some students have done block placement with us as full-time Student Social Workers. Presentation of our work has been done in various social work colleges in the district of Amravati.

Voluntary Action for Rehabilitation and Development (VARHAD) is a voluntary organization. The issue we are working on is quite serious and our work has spread out into five districts of the Vidarbha region. We have expanded our area of work to the Nagpur Central Prison also. Due to limited resources in the form of staff and finances it becomes difficult to handle such expansion. Presently, our annual budget is around twenty - five lakhs, which still is limited as compared to the services provided by us.
